Set up iOS and Android in-app purchases in the Blockli plugin — product mapping, entitlements, and Studio configuration.
Blockli supports native in-app purchases (IAP) on both iOS and Android via the BMA_IAP module. IAP lets you sell subscriptions or one-time purchases directly inside the app, with entitlements tied back to WordPress user accounts.
How it works
- You create products in App Store Connect (iOS) and Google Play Console (Android)
- You define the same products in Studio → Monetization
- The plugin maps purchased product IDs to WordPress capabilities or membership levels
- When a user completes a purchase in the app, the plugin verifies the receipt and grants the appropriate access
Plugin configuration
IAP settings are managed primarily in Studio. The plugin side (BMA_IAP) handles:
- Receipt verification — validates purchase receipts against Apple/Google servers
- Entitlement assignment — maps verified purchases to WordPress user meta
- Restore purchases — handles the restore flow when a user reinstalls the app
Product types
| Type | Description |
|---|---|
| Auto-renewable subscription | Recurring subscription (monthly, annual). Best for membership access. |
| Non-consumable | One-time purchase that persists (e.g. "Premium" tier). |
| Consumable | One-time purchase that is used up (e.g. credits). Less common for community apps. |
Connecting to membership plugins
You can link IAP products to membership levels in these plugins:
- Paid Memberships Pro
- MemberPress
- Restrict Content Pro
- BuddyBoss membership levels
After a successful IAP purchase, the plugin activates the corresponding membership level on the user’s account. This gives them access to the same gated content on both web and mobile.
Testing
Apple and Google both provide sandbox environments for IAP testing:
- iOS: Create sandbox tester accounts in App Store Connect. Use a development or TestFlight build.
- Android: Add test accounts in Google Play Console. Use an internal testing build.
The plugin’s IAP endpoint (/wp-json/blockli-mobile/v1/iap/verify) accepts a sandbox flag for test receipts.
Admin panel
Go to Blockli → In-App Purchases in WordPress admin to:
- View recent purchase events and their verification status
- Manually grant or revoke entitlements
- Check the current entitlement status for any user
