Connect your WordPress site

Blockli October 24, 2026

How to connect your WordPress site to Studio Cloud — syncing capabilities, troubleshooting connection issues.

Studio reads your site’s configuration through the Blockli WordPress plugin. The connection tells Studio what your site supports — which community features are active, what modules are available, and how the app should be configured.

Connecting your site

  1. In Studio, open your app and go to Settings → WordPress Connection.
  2. Verify the site URL (set when you created the app). Update it if your site has moved.
  3. Click Connect (or Verify Connection if it was previously connected).
  4. On success, Studio shows a green "Connected" badge and lists the detected capabilities.

Note: The Blockli plugin must be installed and activated on the WordPress site before connecting. See Installation.

What Studio syncs

After a successful connection, Studio stores:

Data Where it comes from
Community provider Auto-detected: BuddyBoss, BuddyPress, or FluentCommunity
Active modules Plugin settings + installed plugin detection
App name Auto-detects the app name set in wordpress and updates the app identity

This data is used to generate your app binary when you generate a build for your app.

Troubleshooting

"Could not reach site" on connect

  1. Confirm the Blockli plugin is activated
  2. Check pretty permalinks: Settings → Permalinks in WordPress admin (any structure except "Plain")
  3. Test directly: visit https://your-site.com/wp-json/blockli-mobile/v1/ping — you should see a JSON response
  4. Check that no security plugin is blocking the REST API for unauthenticated requests to the /blockli-mobile/ namespace

Site URL changed after connecting

Update the URL in Settings → WordPress Connection, then click Reconnect. Studio runs the handshake again and updates the plugin’s cloud settings with the new URL.

Connecting to Studio

Connecting your WordPress site to Studio links your community content to your app. The connection is started from your WordPress admin.

Connect your site

  1. In your WordPress admin, go to Blockli Mobile App → Overview and click Connect.
  2. You will be redirected to Studio automatically.
  3. Select the app you want to connect to this site, or create a new one.
  4. The connection is confirmed and your WordPress URL is set up in Studio.

Once connected, the plugin Overview page shows a Connected badge with your app name.

Reconnecting

If you migrate your site to a new domain or need to refresh the connection:

  1. In your WordPress admin, go to Blockli Mobile App → Overview and click Reconnect.
  2. You will be redirected to Studio to reauthorize. Existing app sessions are not affected.

Troubleshooting

Could not reach site

  • Make sure pretty permalinks are enabled: Settings → Permalinks — any structure except Plain works.
  • Check that a security plugin such as Wordfence or iThemes Security is not blocking REST API requests.
  • Confirm your site URL is publicly reachable.

Plugin not detected after connecting

  • Check that the plugin is activated, not just installed, under Plugins in your WordPress admin.
